Retro-dated to back while I was on the plane!
Feb 2, 2012
Cruising over the dark side of the planet at 70 000 ft over the pacific ocean where the outside temperature is -54C provides amazing space to take stock of one's life. In these lats weeks since the decision made itself into me to go on this shake-up-life-as-you-know-it trip, I've received nothing but incredible support and love from my community, which I am just starting to recognize the value of. Here, in this space of anticipation without knowing at all what I'm about to throw myself into, I feel such an immense sense of gratitude to even have this opportunity.
More than that, I feel so thankful to everyone who helped to make this process of preparation doable: the friends who through their own travel experiences brought me inspiration that I could do it too, to Rhetta for being my go to person for all practical matters ('Rhetta, how much underwear should I bring??? How do I take a bucket shower???), to Jane for a frenzied last-10-minutes-before-leaving-clean-up, to Jordan for patiently waiting while said frenzy was happening, then driving me to the airport (her third time this week!), all the while calming me down, to Jared for ever helpful technological suggestions (my thumbs are going nuts right now typing all of this into my new iPod touch so I don't forget it), and for working magic to put an entire trip's worth of music onto this device until 2am the night before my flight, to Mike for standing offers of equipment lending, to Ted for connecting me with Makyil in Delhi, who will be my landing pad for the first few days, to dance friends for keeping me grounded and being interested in these wacky things I'm doing, and to everyone I have had the fortune of spending time with this past while.
I feel a bit like I've just give a 'Thank you for this Oscar' speech, but I really would not be here, zooming across this planet without the incredible support I've received!
Stay tuned for more, my friends. This one is for you.
